Sudden changes in the types of noises being produced by your oil boiler may be a sign of an underlying problem. A build-up of limescale can be a common cause of boiler noises. When limescale deposits build up on the heat exchanger, they become overheated which can result in the production of steam and bubbling, causing a familiar whistling noise, referred to as kettling.
