An impressive 350sq metre private bungalow in Westport, Co. Mayo has recently installed a Grant integrated heating package to heat the new build property. Complete with two kitchens and living areas, this beautiful family bungalow was a complex and intricate project.
Due to the size and complexity of the project, to deliver heating effectively and sustainably, this new build heating system was split into two successfully combined projects. The main house hosts a 13kW Grant Aerona³ R32 air to water air source heat pump heating a 300l Grant pre-plumbed and pre-wired cylinder for its domestic hot water and underfloor heating needs with a 30l volumizer. To complete the smaller living area a 10kW Grant Aerona³ R32 air to water air source heat pump was installed to heat a 200l Grant pre-plumbed and pre-wired cylinder for domestic hot water and underfloor heating needs.
Grant’s technical specialists carried out room by room heat loss calculations on receipt of the planning drawings from Joe Gavin, the designated installer on this project. This enabled the team to design a bespoke heating system for the home.
Working alongside the Grant technical team, Joe Gavin, an experienced installer of Grant Aerona³ R32 heat pumps, installed this bespoke heating system complete with heating controls which includes EPH room stats and motorised valves.
The first heat pump installed to heat the large living area of the bungalow, a 13kW Grant Aerona³ R32 air to water air source heat pump, offers exceptional efficiencies, achieving a high SCOP and is sustainable at low temperatures. The Grant Aerona³ range has an ErP of A+++ and is amongst the most efficient air to water heat pumps in Ireland and offers easy installation with its compact size. To heat the smaller living area, a 10kW Grant Aerona³ R32 air to water air source heat pump was installed. The Grant Aerona heat pump range offers a cleaner, more environmentally friendly performance and can lower a property’s overall carbon footprint, whilst helping to achieve required compliance under building regulations.
Both a 200l and 300l A-rated Grant pre-plumbed and pre-wired cylinder was chosen to supply the property with 24/7 hot water. Grant hot water cylinders are designed to heat water faster and more efficiently than standard cylinders. Throughout the bungalow, the Grant Uflex underfloor heating system has been installed to offer even distribution of heat throughout the entire property.
To control the heating system, the owner opted for Grant smart controls, which can be set to provide different room temperatures and different time intervals on individual heating zones, with the click of a button. The Grant smart controls system can be controlled via a slim and stylish standalone thermostat or by an app on your smartphone.
